I have observed first hand, many artists struggling with the task of reproducing their images in a professional looking way. After the effort to create a wonderful piece of art, there is no quicker way to get discounted than to show your work poorly (due to inadequate transfer to digital representation). Short of viewing it in person, NOTHING will help you sell your work better than an accurate reproduction reflecting the quality of your original work.
Here are just a few examples of before and after images.
Understanding a digital image manipulation tool such as Photoshop Elements 8 is a critical component to any artist representing their work today in either printed form or over the web. Putting that together with powerful text capabilities will allow you to create effective promotional items, which includes everything from:
▪ submitting quality art images to juried shows
▪ creating business cards
▪ creating an artists portfolio
▪ creating post cards
▪ creating note cards
▪ creating an advertisement
▪ publishing artwork in an email
▪ publishing artwork in a newsletter
▪ publishing artwork to a web site or blog
It's also beneficial for every artist to know about copyright and watermarking techniques.
In addition, Photoshop Elements 8 is a productivity enhancer assisting artists with studio work and learning to see things differently in the areas of color, values, outlines, patterns, and utilizing photos as a reference to derivative works of art.
I have noticed many artists already have photoshop elements because it came free with their digital camera, but are utilizing only a portion of it’s power or are on a much older release. I've also observed that classes offered at education facilities are using older releases of the software and have a generic approach to teaching.
Photoshop Elements 8 for Artists is a new workshop developed from the ground up with the artist in mind. This workshop utilizes the most current release (Adobe Photoshop Elements 8) available today, and not only provides an overview of the functions, but clearly guides the artist through real life examples in a targeted fashion.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Any artist that wants to move into the digital age. This workshop is geared toward the beginner, but on occasion we'll be delving into advanced topics. This workshop will be limited to a small group of students.

WHATS NOT INCLUDED
There is a browser front end to PSE8 that is different for the MAC and PC. This tool allows you to sort and manage files. Because of the differences, it would be difficult to split the class and teach both. Instead we'll focus on the robust core tools and features of Photoshop Elements 8. Also we won't be spending to much time on cosmetic filters for two reasons - 1) they are intuitive to use, and 2) They allow you to take a photo and make it look like a watercolor or a charcoal sketch or some other artistic rendition. Since we are all artists, this is probably not necessary.
Having said that, we will dive into those filters that provide key functionality other than those for cosmetic manipulation.
